Finally a peRFect website!

It's about time Roger's website got a facelift. Looks very professional now. This week's tournament is in Basel, Switzerland where he grew up and once was a ball boy himself. Can't wait to see him play!

Peers rank Nadal over Federer despite career slam (HUH?)

This author must have meant  Federer over Nadal....if you read the quotes, the "peers" are favoring Roger (as they should!)

Peers rank Nadal over Federer despite career slam - Tennis - Yahoo! Sports:

“Rafa is probably the best player in the history of Spain. But in the world, at this moment—maybe it’s Federer because he has more Grand Slams and more titles,” fellow Spaniard David Ferrer said Saturday in the southern Chinese city Macau on the sidelines of a four-man exhibition.

Sweden’s Robin Soderling agreed, saying: “He has won so many Grand Slams already, so many titles, but to me, Roger is still the best.” Czech Tomas Berdych added: “To be the player who won the most Grand Slams, he is still missing a couple of them. Still, I think it is a long way to go for him.”"

The Silver Lining

That was a pretty dark cloud over today's semifinal but I do feel better after watching Roger's presser.

At least he didn't lose in the Final and better yet not to Rafa there.

And I like how he says it just makes him hunger for more wins and motivates him to put in the work to that end. Carry On Roger!

Still Going Strong - SemiFinals vs. Djokovic on Saturday

I have to admit there's been moments during Roger's 6 month slump where I almost resigned myself to the fact that I'd seen the best of what he had to give.  I was ok with that because I consider myself privileged to have been able to witness his beauty, grace and athletic genius.  There are other players I enjoy watching but no one compares to him.  There have been some great "epic" matches between other players, but I still prefer to watch one that involves Roger over any other.  It's obvious he will not continue forever, but every time I feel the slightest twinge of doubt or hint that he's on the downward side of his career, he turns it around in amazing form.  And so it has been with this U.S. Open.  From the very start with his incredible shots like his encore "tweener" to his fantastic increase in net play & drop shots to his usual "gliding" and "floating" above the court, I find myself thanking my lucky stars I was reacquainted with professional tennis a few years back and started following the tour more closely.  I hate to think I'd have missed all this.  People say I'm obsessed and kind of roll their eyes at me until they look more closely.  That's when they become mesmerized too.  So, for as long as it lasts, I will obsess over Roger and enjoy the ride!

Nice win for Roger over Melzer (9/8/10)

I really like Melzer and am glad to know he remains a friend of Roger's from the juniors regardless whether he wins.

Rafa's Tweener? FAIL!

Yeah, Rafa tried the tweener today (9/6/10). But it wasn't in the cards for him. Didn't clear the net!

Tweener Mania

Francesca Schiavone followed Roger's lead and hit a tweener in her last match too.  I like her tennis.  She's so small and quick and fun to watch.

Post Match Interview

So here's the interview following Mathieu's match. (9/4/10)  Next up, Jurgen Melzer.

Roger Beats Mathieu

Roger looked so good today. (9/4/10)   A few shanks but they were mostly caused by the wind. Aggressive, moving well and mixing up his game. Next up, Melzer or JC Ferrero.
